I May Destroy You (1 Season)

Within the first 5 minutes of watching this series, it was evident, that it would be a defining role for actress Son Ye-jin, and that her portrayal of main character, Yoon Se-ri, would make for an instant classic in the world of K-Drama heroines.  And I’m happy to say, my predictions were spot on! 

You will immediately LOVE Yoon Se-ri! And if you don’t, you will immediately LOVE to hate her… but either way, you’ll definitely keep watching. With such smart acting choices, line delivery, attitude, and those famous “K-Drama Facial Expressions” that we love, Se-ri is everything that beloved KDrama Mamas are made of.  Plus, her comedic timing was surprisingly flawless, and on-beat. In scenes with characters who wanted to strangle her, Yoon Se-ri, didn’t disappoint or cower, and always found an entertaining way to make them hate her even more. And we loved every minute of it. In the words of Missy Elliott: “She’s a B%tch! (But a darn good one.) Listen, It’s not easy being self-absorbed, likable, adored and hated… all at the same time! She’s definitely got that all in the bag.

Crash Landing On You is sweetly reminiscent of classics “My Love From The Star”, which also happens to be written by the brilliant, Park Ji-eun, and “Faith: the Great Doctor.” which has an old world-meets-new world plot. Only in this case, a successful business woman, gets stuck in a different kind of world, with that world being  North Korea, and manages to meet an “other worldly” being- a high-ranking, North Korean soldier, Ri Jeong Hyeok, played by veteran actor, Hyun Bin, while managing to  bring the most innocent comedic moments, with an adorable naiveté, to the most peculiar of circumstances. And leading man, just eats it all up… and we love him all the more for it.

So let’s talk about the Chemistry that leading man, RI JEONG HYEOK, who perfectly portrays the serious, unbothered yet interested, play-by-the-rules, counterpart, in this perfect, modern, opposites attract, “my life would be boring without you” love story.

Mr. Ri is a heartbeat in my eye!!

This Drama is Smooth.Like.Butter. – Yup. It spreads on so nicely from the beginning and all the way through. Nothing was pushed. Nothing was forced. It just came naturally, as if they were destined to work together.
